Wagdy Ghoneim, a Muslim Brotherhood Leader was found guilty of outlaw activities from 2003 to 2015, which includes assaulting citizens, for obstructing the constitution and state institution and thus harming national unity. Ghoneim has rejected the ruling stating that he has not been on Egypt since 2001. The government overthrown in Egypt in 2013 led to many similar cases against the Muslim Brotherhood group. Thousands have been jailed and hundreds have been killed.
