Pakistan Shoots Down Three Indian Jets, Destroys Brigade Headquarters Near LoC in Retaliatory Strike
7 May 2025 — Islamabad / New Delhi:
Tensions between nuclear-armed neighbors India and Pakistan have escalated dramatically as Pakistan claims to have shot down three Indian fighter jets and destroyed a brigade headquarters near the Line of Control (LoC) in a forceful retaliation to what it describes as an unprovoked missile attack on civilian areas.
According to an official statement by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Pakistan Air Force engaged multiple Indian aircraft that allegedly crossed into Pakistani airspace early this morning. “Three Indian jets were successfully targeted and destroyed while attempting offensive maneuvers near the LoC,” the statement said.
In a separate development, Pakistani ground forces reportedly launched precision strikes on Indian military installations. One of the targeted sites was identified by Pakistani military sources as a brigade headquarters situated close to the LoC, resulting in “substantial structural damage and military losses.”
Eyewitnesses from villages along the LoC reported intense aerial activity, loud explosions, and visible fire in the distance. Civilian populations on both sides have been urged to remain indoors, as fears of further escalation continue to mount.
India has yet to issue an official response to the latest claims. However, sources in Indian media have confirmed “unusual activity” near the LoC and a high-level security meeting convened in New Delhi.
This latest exchange follows a reported Indian missile strike that hit densely populated civilian areas in Pakistan earlier this week, a move Islamabad condemned as a blatant violation of international law and a threat to regional peace.
International Reactions
As the situation intensifies, international organizations and governments are calling for restraint. The United Nations has issued a statement urging both sides to “de-escalate immediately and resolve differences through diplomatic channels.”
China and the United States, both major stakeholders in South Asian stability, are reportedly monitoring the situation closely and have offered to mediate if needed.
This is a developing story. More updates will follow as new information becomes available.
