Actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked and stabbed six times during a burglary attempt at his residence in Mumbai early Thursday morning. His elder son, Ibrahim Khan, promptly transported the actor to Lilavati Hospital in an auto-rickshaw, with the knife still embedded in his back, as reported by sources to The Indian Express.
Initial investigations indicate that the assailant demanded a ransom of Rs 1 crore prior to the violent incident at the actor’s home in Bandra. The actor suffered six stab wounds, which included two severe lacerations on his back—one perilously close to his spine—and a minor cut on his neck. Medical professionals at Lilavati Hospital have confirmed that the actor is no longer in critical condition and is stable. Dr. Nitin Dange, one of the neurosurgeons involved, stated that the knife, which was dangerously positioned near the thoracic spine, was successfully extracted during the neurosurgery procedure.
The Mumbai police have reported that the assailant is connected to a member of the household staff, who facilitated his access to the residence. The staff member is currently undergoing questioning. Although the suspect was confined to one of the rooms, he was able to flee. An FIR has been filed by the Mumbai Police, citing non-bailable provisions of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita against the perpetrator.
Saif Ali Khan resides in an apartment located in the Bandra suburb of western Mumbai, accompanied by his wife, Kareena Kapoor-Khan, who is also an actress, and their two children. As reported by NDTV, law enforcement officials are actively pursuing the suspect and have initiated an investigation into the incident. Khan is recognized as one of the most commercially successful actors in the country, having appeared in over 70 films and television series, some of which he has also produced. He is the son of former Indian cricket captain Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi and actress Sharmila Tagore.
