President-elect Trump has revealed additional selections for his expanding Cabinet as the date of his inauguration on January 20 approaches.
In an announcement made on Friday evening, Trump stated that Bill Briggs has been nominated to become the next Deputy Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration. Should he receive confirmation, Briggs will work alongside Kelly Loeffler, who has been chosen as the SBA Administrator. “Bill is a successful entrepreneur who served during my first term as the Acting Associate Administrator in the Office of Capital Access at the SBA,” Trump remarked. “Throughout his time in this role, Bill played a crucial part in managing our Historic Paycheck Protection Program, which was instrumental in preserving numerous small businesses and millions of jobs.”
As January 20 approaches, Trump is in the process of finalizing his selections for the Cabinet. Concurrently, the Republican-majority U.S. Senate is preparing to commence hearings for the nominees put forth by Trump.
The Republican Party will hold a majority in the Senate with 53 seats compared to the Democrats’ 47, following the swearing-in of Senator-elect Jim Justice from West Virginia later in January. Additionally, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine is expected to appoint a senator to succeed Vice President-elect Vance’s seat.
The president-elect has also designated Ed Russo as the head of the Environmental Advisory Task Force.
“I am delighted to share that Ed Russo, a recognized Environmental Expert, will chair our Environmental Advisory Task Force. This group will provide guidance to my Administration on initiatives aimed at generating quality employment opportunities while safeguarding our natural resources, in alignment with my commitment to CLEAN AIR and CLEAN WATER,” he stated. “Together, we will attain American Energy DOMINANCE, revitalize our Economy, and pursue aggressive drilling initiatives.”
