On Monday, an unusual AI-generated video featuring former US President Donald Trump kissing the feet of billionaire Elon Musk was displayed in a continuous loop at the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) building. The video, entitled ‘Long Live the Real King’, appeared to satirize their relationship and rapidly gained widespread attention online.
The footage, visible on monitors within HUD, seemed to allude to a recent post by Trump on Truth Social, in which he proclaimed, ‘Long Live the King!’ The origin of this incident remains unclear, yet it has sparked significant online discourse.
An X user shared the video, stating: “WOW! This actually just happened! The monitors were hacked at HUD to showcase an AI video of Trump licking Elon Musk’s toes. The caption above it read, “LONG LIVE THE REAL KING.” pic.twitter.com/11JWuH2XfZ — Brian Krassenstein (@krassenstein) February 24, 2025
HUD spokesperson Kasey Lovett criticized the event, expressing to The Hill, “This is yet another misuse of taxpayer dollars and resources. Appropriate measures will be taken against those responsible.”
Musk’s Impact on Government Provokes Controversy
Elon Musk has emerged as a prominent supporter of Trump, acquiring considerable sway over federal agencies following the president’s reinstatement. His tenure has seen a rapid increase in workforce reductions throughout the government, resulting in the dismissal of thousands of employees. Additionally, Musk leads the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), tasked with providing guidance to the administration on budgetary reductions and personnel matters. His recent mandate, which compels government employees to submit weekly reports detailing five achievements or risk termination, has elicited significant criticism.
