HANOI – Vietnam has greenlit a $1.5 billion investment proposal from the Trump Organization and local partner Kinhbac City Group to develop a large-scale real estate and tourism complex in the country’s north, state media reported on Friday.
The approved project, located in Khoai Chau district of Hung Yen province, will span approximately 990 hectares (2,446 acres). It will feature a massive golf course — reportedly the size of 336 American football fields — along with residential neighborhoods, commercial spaces, and public parks, according to VN Express. Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha signed the official approval for the investment.
The announcement comes at a critical time as Vietnam enters negotiations with the United States to mitigate the impact of newly imposed U.S. tariffs — as high as 46% — on Vietnamese exports. Washington has also criticized Vietnam for not doing enough to curb the transshipment of Chinese goods through its borders to avoid tariffs.
The project marks a significant expansion of the Trump Organization’s footprint in Southeast Asia. Its partnership with Kinhbac City was formalized in October 2024. Construction is set to begin later this year and is scheduled to continue through 2029.
This development could serve to strengthen U.S.-Vietnam economic ties amid growing trade tensions and broader geopolitical recalibrations in the region.
